The auction house has had an 83 percent of unwavering sell-through rates over its auctions and 60 percent of its highest-priced objects even in its very first- half, as per the press release.Commenting about this, Guillaume Cerutti, Christie’s Chief Executive Officer said: “Global collectors have shown consistent demand across all categories with notable successes for important private collections as well as individual masterpieces. The sales total for this half-year is consistent with the same period in 2016, 2017, and 2018 if adjusted to remove the exceptional sale of the Rockefeller Collection in May last year. Overall, the market remains resilient and we continue to focus on serving our clients with a good pipeline of material coming to market in the autumn.”This achievement of Christie’s has been possible with its leading collections globally including George Michael, S.I. Newhouse, George Michael, Mayor Family collection, David Gilmour, The Irving Collection, and the Drue Heinz.As per the press release, the prominent sales, which hit high include Jeff Koon’s “Rabbit,” which was sold in New York in May for a whopping $91,075,000; there has also been a strong influence from Asian clients with a variety of audiences with a total of 51 percent of them spending globally outside Asian Art; David Hockney’s Henry Geldzahler and Christopher Scott from The Barney A. Ebsworth Collection, whose sale realized £37,661,250, which is till now a European record for a living artist.Besides, the auction titled “Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence” achieved $109,271,875, which is the second-highest auction total for a private jewelry collection. A yet another sale was a full 100 percent wipe off at the “David Gilmour Guitar Collection,” which totaled a spectacular $21,490,750. The auction had some of the most famous musical instruments in the auction history.
