Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo (MAXXI) in Rome is hosting “At Home. Projects for contemporary housing,” an exhibition that reviews the concept of habitation from low-cost housing projects of the Post-war years to new experimental and sustainable ways of inhabiting the planet. The exhibition is on view through March 22, 2020.The central theme of the exhibition is the evolution of concept housing, since the aftermath of the Second World War. This theme is analyzed through the works of the great masters of the 20th-century and the new emerging figures in the landscape of international architecture.Curated by Margherita Guccione, Director of MAXXI Architettura and Pippo Ciorra, Senior curator of MAXXI Architettura, the exhibition offers diverse and intersecting interpretative keys, “from the individual to the collective through the duets, the site-specific pavilions and a visual survey of auteur photographs,” states the release.“Between past and present, this reflection on habitation is an opportunity to highlight the centrality of the theme in both the works of the masters of the past and the latest projects by contemporary Italian and international architects that enrich the museum with extraordinary designs by the likes of Demogo, Adjae, Noero, and Pezo Von Elkrichshausen among others,” says Guccione. The exhibition showcases works by individuals and collectives, notable among which are a survey of the material in the Giulio Gra and Monaco Luccichenti archives, who were two most celebrated designers of residential buildings in Rome between the 1930s and 1950s; as well as works by celebrated architects Adalberto Libera and young talents like Maria Giuseppina Grasso Cannizzo, and Demogo. The exhibition engages in a constant dialogue between masters and young architects, thus providing a further interpretation of the theme. The release further informs that the exhibition also discusses architecture through the physical and immersive experience of the visitor with a series of life-size installations and site-specific pavilions realized by the Italian and international architects. The exhibition is on view through March 22, 2020, at Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo (MAXXI), Via Guido Reni 4A, 00196 Roma. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide-venues/285897/museum-overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek of the exhibition. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
