Safdie Architects has unveiled the designs for Surbana Jurong’s new headquarters in Singapore. The Safdie Surbana Jurong joint venture was established in 2017, and this new project marks their first initiative to develop innovative and iconic projects in the Asia-Pacific.According to Safdie Architects, the design features a series of treehouse-like pavilions, which are interlinked by a central pedestrian ‘street’ that interweaves interior and exterior landscapes. The integration of both open-air and enclosed courtyards provide natural light and fresh air. Peter Walker and Partners Landscape Architects have curated a diverse palette of plant life for each courtyard, which will lend a unique character to each. The north courtyard houses a shared meeting center and is quieter in nature, featuring lushly-planted intimate spaces within the gardens. A cafeteria and hardscaped piazza in the south courtyard makes it a livelier zone.“We have designed the campus with both the Surbana Jurong community and the community-at-large in mind, creating uplifting spaces that maximize the potential for shared moments of engagement and creativity facilitated by the tranquility of the site’s natural setting,” said Moshe Safdie.“The Surbana Jurong Campus represents a unique contribution to the architecture of Singapore,” said Wong Heang Fine, Group CEO for Surbana Jurong. “By providing a truly flexible and sustainable work environment that is specific to the quintessentially-tropical climate and blurring the boundaries between private and public space, the campus poises itself to be a model for other corporations to strive toward well into the future.” According to Safdie Architects, the campus is designed to push the boundaries of sustainable design in both construction and operation. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
