R & Company is featuring a solo exhibition of new works by iconic glass artist Jeff Zimmerman at at 64 White Street, New York. This visionary exhibition is Zimmerman’s most comprehensive exhibition to date with the gallery, spanning over two decades of artist’s works and ranges from intricate unique works to large scale custom commissions. The exhibition runs through December 21.The exhibition debuts Zimmerman’s latest designs that build upon his versatile body of work and push the concepts and aesthetics he has been developing for years to an elevated level. With the new expansive body of work, Zimmerman continues to draw inspiration from nature and furthers his research and investigation of the natural world. Also influenced by astronomy and metaphysics, Zimmerman closely studies the galaxy, milky way, big bang, and cosmos to discover new abstract forms and concepts.About his new works, Zimmerman states, “To make the invisible visible, from the minute to the infinite, to illustrate the possibilities of what we are surrounded by what we are made of and where we come from. We are all made of stars.” The gallery reveals that on view is a collection of unique customizable illuminated sculptures, wall pieces, glass vessels and crystal sconces that are presented alongside a series of abstract photographs made in collaboration with Doug Piburn that document exquisite details of Zimmerman’s glass designs.Jeff Zimmerman belongs to a group of daring contemporary artists who employ the ancient material as a means of expression rather than an end in itself. His sculptures and functional pieces exploit techniques of advanced glassmaking and the defining properties of glass itself — the way it hovers between liquid and solid states, its reflectivity and tactile qualities, its habit of moving constantly while still molten — to evoke a dimension of experience where things are happening that we can feel but not necessarily define. The exhibition is on view through December 21, 2018 at R & Company, 64 White Street, New York, USA.For details, visit: http://www.r-and-company.com/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
