Achille Salvagni’s “Sahara” is inspired by the unique topography and cultures of the African Sahara. The exhibition is highlighted by earthy tones, punctuated by drops of orange, amber, and blue, and is dominated by shapes evoking life in the desert. Salvagni’s versatile classics combined with eye-catching new pieces, create an exceptional universe. The circular central seating, in the gallery’s front room, is structured around a pair of new curved loveseats, which allude to the Sahara’s sand dunes, and the fire orange color of the upholstery recalls the sunset. “Two quirky animalesque chairs, covered in ivory cashmere wool and inspired by the thrones of African tribal chiefs, add character to the space. High above, in what could be imagined as a starry night sky, hangs an opulent eight-arm chandelier in burnished cast bronze and dark gunmetal, adorned with backlit onyx plates reminiscent of constellations,” writes Achille Salvagni Atelier.Salvagni’s “Maasai,” a new modular shelving system produced in wood and bronze, dons the gallery walls. The designer draws inspiration from tribal jewelry with its different layers of shapes and materials to create the decorative elements. A vintage Berber rug is presented alongside a Santiago sofa and two Gae armchairs upholstered in a hand-woven Toyine Sellers fabric in the back room. The exhibition also features works by celebrated Italian photographer Guido Guidi documenting five buildings by Le Corbusier, never-before-seen in London. Guido Guidi (b. 1941 in Cesena, Italy) has been pioneering Italian landscape and architectural photography for more than half a century. This series is a prime example of appreciation of “constructed landscapes,” according to Achille Salvagni Atelier.Born in Rome in 1970, Achille Salvagni established his own architectural and interior design firm Salvagni Architetti in 2002.
