Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton is currently hosting an exhibition of works titled “Gender Bend: Women in Wood, Men at the Loom.”The show is a multi-media installation featuring the works of male weavers alongside female woodturners. Both have been traditionally underrepresented in their fields. The exhibition brings works by these artists who challenge long-standing perceptions to the public eye all the while, encouraging new practitioners to take up mediums that abound in possibilities. “Gender Bend: Women in Wood, Men at the Loom” is a visually stimulating exhibit that offers wide appeal to all audiences. Artists included in the exhibition are Weavers: Klaus Anselm, James Bassler, Archie Brennan, Stanley Bulbach, and Pierre Larochette among others. Woodworkers: Dixie Biggs, Sharon Doughtie, Cindy Drozda, Julie Heryet, Beth Ireland, and Merryll Saylan including other artists.Fuller Craft Museum, New England’s only museum of contemporary craft, is devoted to inspiring both patrons and artists to explore life and art through contemporary craft and also objects, ideas, and insights. The museum has a dynamic roster of exhibitions, collections, education, and public programs and it constantly challenges perceptions and builds appreciation for the material world.
