Carpenters Workshop Gallery, London is hosting the works of the renowned Italian architect and designer Andrea Branzi in the exhibition “Sassi e Legni.”Branzi stands out as a pioneering figure in the international history of design with his avant-garde projects and radical design theories. Founder of the Domus Academy in Milan, the architect-designer works towards finding the language of objects and their place in society, rather than finding the right style. His works also examine the relationship between the built environment and the natural environment, and question the presence of man in the environment and the space. For his new collection “Sassi e legni,” Branzi creates a domestic micro-architecture, which combines nature and artistic creation. In the “Tree” series, Branzi tried to connect the industrial world and the poetry of nature by placing books, images, and other everyday objects in a setting of branches and trunks. For Branzi, “Trees, trunks and branches are part of an ancient culture but also of actual culture, because in the age of globalization, design searches to trace recognizable ‘anthropological’ platforms.”Andrea Branzi was born in Florence in 1938, and now lives and works in Milan. His works have been exhibited at the Biennale di Venezia (1980), and la Fondation Cartier in Paris, France (2008); as well as at fairs such as PAD Paris and Design Days Dubai, UAE, among many others. The exhibition is on view through December 22, 2017 at Carpenters Workshop Gallery, 4 Albemarle St, Mayfair, London W1S 4GA, United Kingdom. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/carpenters-workshop-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
