The exhibition titled “Vestige II - New Glassworks by Sachi Fujikake” (b.1985) will soon be on view at Yufuku Gallery, Tokyo. The show features new and innovative approach to glass by Fujikake. The designer has taken the material and transformed it into ripples of time and space. She has melted the fundamentals of glass to create Dali-esque objects. These pieces in their rippling elegance can be stated to be surreal yet finite, and eternal but completely original. “Vestige II” highlights Fujikake’s process of altering a hard material into a soft form depicting time and the bending of its continuum into previously unimaginable forms. These are organic, free-flowing, continuous, crumpled, and inflated in appearance.Fujikake Gallery opened its doors in 1993 in Tokyo and is founded by Tom M. Aoyama. It does not divide or define the boundaries between art and craft. The gallery brings together Japanese art highlighting contemporary Japanese aesthetics on a global scale. It represents Japanese and international artists whose works are associated with the definition of space. These artists push the boundaries of technique and innovation.“Vestige II - New Glassworks by Sachi Fujikake” runs from October 19 through October 28, 2017, at Yufuku Gallery, Annecy Aoyama 1F, 2-6-12 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan 107-0062.For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide/yufuku-gallery/overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
