Good news for the aesthetes. The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum will present an outstanding show, featuring some beautiful artworks made of wood. Titled as “Explorations in Wood: Selections from The Center for Art in Wood” the show will feature some of the beautiful decorative artworks created by a group of renowned artists. The exhibition will start in this winter.The curator of The Center for Art in Wood said, “Our dependence on – and love for – wood cannot be overstated. It’s integral to our very existence in a range of ways, encompassing our man-made environments as well as both utilitarian and decorative items.” The person also added, “The organic qualities of wood, our ability to manipulate its shape, its abundance, and its renewable potential are among the reasons wood permeates our culture – including the art world.”The show will be displaying around 70 objects which are the sample works from the collection of the The Center for Art in Wood. All of them have been collected over four decades. The artworks are made of various wood types and shapes, organic and processed. A compilation of modern as well as old style of work will be available for a visual treat.Some of the stars of the show include ‘Out of Africa’ by Butch Smuts, ‘Hemispherical Bowl Form’ by Hayley Smith, ‘Puzzle’ by Jack Slentz, ‘Nature in Transition’ by Frank E Cummings. Apart from that, artists taking part in the exhibition are Gianfranco Angelino, Sean Ohrenich, Stephen Hogbin, Mark Bishop and a lot more.“Explorations in Wood” will be unfolding on December 2, 2018 and will be running through February 25, 2018 at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, 700 North 12th Street, Wausau, WI 54403-5007, USA.
