An exhibition featuring new-age robot designs, titled “Robot Revolution”, is currently on view at Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.The show explores how robots, created by humans will ultimately be our companions and colleagues in the future transforming how we play, live and work together. On display are some of the most cutting-edge robots secured from innovative global robotics companies and universities. From Yume Robo, the climbing robot that traverses up and down a ladder, to the Recon Scout® Throwbot® XT that can literally be thrown into a dangerous situation to collect vital information these robots reflect the advances and breakthroughs made in the field of robotics. The exhibit features four areas that delve into various aspects of robotics these are Cooperation, Smarts, Skills, and Locomotion.MSI’s Robot Revolution exhibit development team worked with a group of robotics experts to offer insight on exhibit content. This team of advisors includes lead advisor Dr. Henrik I. Christensen, Professor of Computer Science, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering at UC San Diego and Director of the Institute for Contextual Robotics, as well as Dr. Dennis Hong, professor and founding director of RoMeLa (Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory) of the Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department at UCLA.
