“Besides, History: Go Hasegawa, Kersten Geers, David Van Severen” is on view at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), Montreal. The exhibition is a dialogue between Go Hasegawa (Go Hasegawa and Associates, Tokyo), Kersten Geers and David Van Severen (OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, Brussels) regarding the history of architecture. The show looks at studying architectural ideas involving using the past and the present as tools to envision the future. “Besides, History” examines the role that history plays in contemporary architectural practice. The architects involved reread, redrew, translated, and appropriated from the past and from each other in order to construct relationships and meaning out of a constellation of references. In turn, the galleries formed a statement in response to this dialogue by creating a space where visitors can experience the conversation that took place between the architects in the presence of history. The conversation is presented in seven thematic galleries Through Your Eyes, Common Ground, Apparent Banality, Section as Logic of Assembly, A View with a Room, and Plan as Perimeter. The Canadian Centre for Architecture is an international research center and museum founded by Phyllis Lambert, on the conviction that architecture is a public concern. Based on its extensive collection, exhibitions, public programs, publications and research opportunities, the CCA is advancing knowledge, promoting public understanding, and widening thought and debate on architecture, its history, theory, practice, and role in society today. The exhibition that started on May 10 will run through October 15, 2017 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, 920 Baile St, Montreal, QC H3H 2S6, Canada. For details, visit: http://www.blouinartinfo.com/galleryguide-venues/288966/museum-overviewClick on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the exhibition.
