Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal is hosting an exhibition titled, “It’s All Happening So Fast, A Counter-History of the Modern Canadian Environment” that will be on view through April 9, 2017.Curated by Mirko Zardini, the exhibition presents case studies from the past five decades of human interventions in the Canadian landscape, examining the country’s contrasting and confusing ideas about the definition of natural environment. On the occasion of the country’s 150th anniversary this year, the exhibition narrates the history of Canada since 1945, exposing complex connections among different interests, competing cultural myths, an evolving legal context, changing ideas of environmental risks, resurgent indigenous population, and the impact of environmental movements.Featuring works by Douglas Coupland including large sculptures and a series of slogans, historical photographs of idyllic landscapes by William Notman and Alexander Henderson, Northern landscapes by Richard Harrington and Robert Frank, 1960s industrial activities by George Hunter and many more documentations and photographs, the exhibition goes beyond traditions and unifies multiple ideas. The exhibition is on view at Canadian Centre for Architecture, 1920 Baile Street, Montreal, QC H3H 2S6, Canada.
