What: Faberge and Russian Works of Art Spring SaleWhere: John Atzbach Antiques, 15127 NE 24th Street, Suite 118, Redmond, WA 98052, United StatesWhen: May 29; 05.00 PM GMTTop lots of the sale:— Lot 0130: “A magnificent Russian gilded silver, cloisonne and plique-a-jour enamel tankard.” Ovchinnikov, Moscow, circa 1895; of octagonal form, the lower half enameled divided into arched panels separated with twist columns and decorated with stylized flowers in cloisonne against a stippled gilt ground, the upper half with conforming flowers against a green ground, the domed, slip-on lid with pierced ball finial and flaring decorative bands, the base finished with a brightly colored vignette in plique-a-jour enamel depicting an eagle vanquishing a serpent. Provenance: Christie's Geneva November 19th 1991. Silver, Objects of Vertu, Miniatures, Russian Works of Art and Faberge Lot 331. Height: 8 1/2 in. (22 cm). Estimate: 60,000 USD - 80,000 USD— Lot 0129: “A Russian gilded silver and cloisonne enamel casket.” Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1884. Of trunk form with a domed lid and swing handles, the body of heavy gauge and good weight, the surfaces covered with brightly-colored Neo-Byzantine ornament within floriated borders, the shaped hasp with conforming ornament, the lid and sides applied with bezel-set emerald-cut green and red pastes simulating gemstones, the interior gilded. Struck on underside with maker's mark with Imperial warrant, 88 silver standard, Dutch control mark, and scratched inventory number. 4 x 7 1/4 x 4 1/8. Estimate: 50,000 USD - 70,000 USD— Lot 0243: “A set of 42 Russian porcelain plates from the Alexander III Coronation Service made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory during the reign of Nicholas II.” The plates, decorated on the rim with the new style crowned double-headed Imperial eagle emblazoned with ST George against a red ground and seals from various Russian cities placed among the up-spread wings. Two gilded bands encircle the wide rim. Condition: Worn gilding in places, overall excellent. 9 to 9 3/8 diam plates (22.9 to 23.8 cm). Estimate: 20,000 USD - 30,000 USD— Lot 0101: “A Russian silver gilt and shaded cloisonne enamel three-handled cup”, Feodor Ruckert, Moscow, circa 1895. Of baluster form, the lower section with lobed cartouches outlined in applied cable borders, enameled with stylized sprays of tulips and daisies on alternating grounds of pale blue, navy blue, sky blue, olive, and cream, all above a band of red enamel applied with scrolling cloisons, the uppermost register enameled with a brightly-colored stylized flowerhead flanked by peacocks, the shaped handles with conforming ornament. Struck with workmaster's initials and 88 standard. 2 7/8 h (7 cm) at top of handles. Estimate: 25,000 USD - 30,000 USD— Lot 0102: “A set of rare Feodor Ruckert cloisonne enamel covered jar and standing scent or perfume flask”, Moscow, circa 1899-1908. Enameled with finely detailed polychrome foliage in shades of turquoise, lapis, pale pink, forest green, and cinnamon against an opaque white ground, the slip on lid with baluster finial enameled with magenta and mustard ornament against a turquoise ground, raised on spreading foot enameled with scrolling ornament in shades of red, navy blue, and turquoise against a mustard ground, the foot with cable border. The standing scent flask bottle of baluster form on spreading, circular foot, enameled with stylized, intensely-colored blossoms on an opaque white ground, the tapering neck within bands of geometric ornament, the slip-on cover with tent-form finial. Height of jar: 3 3/8 in (8.5 cm). Height of scent bottle: 5 in. (12.7 cm). Estimate: 20,000 USD - 30,000 USD— Lot 0097: “A Faberge 88 standard silver and pale blue guilloche photograph frame” work master Andrei Gorianov St. Petersburg 1908-1917. Dimensions: 3 x 3 in.
