Godiva, one of the global leaders in premium chocolate, recently announced the launch of its first cafe 560 at Lexington Avenue, in the heart of New York City. The cafe offers a sweet and savory menu, beverages and a lot more. This cafe concept is seen as a launching pad for Godiva for expansion into new product avenues beyond chocolate gifting. The new product offerings and the cafe launch are part of Godiva's bigger global growth strategy for the next six years.Godiva's cafes are currently open in Japan, China, Belgium, and the Middle East. The overall cafe concept has a refreshing design and a new menu that may also be replicated during growth plans in the coming years. Ten more cafes are on the cards in New York State by the end of 2019. The bigger plan is to come up with cafe in 2,000 locations globally out of which over 400 are planned for the Americas.“Leading the new concept is the menu and what Godiva has seen as the consumer's desire for quality and premium treats. Using Godiva's Belgian roots and innovative food trends as the inspiration, Executive Chef Chocolatier, Thierry Muret, has created a menu of new and delicious items including the Croiffle™, the signature Chocolixir, a decadent cold blended drink, baked items like Belgian liege waffles and chocolate inspired cookies, sandwiches and salads,” the official release says.Croiffle is part of the menu and is a buttery croissant pressed in a hot waffle iron. The new item comes in six flavors including Three Cheese filled with melted Gruyere, Havarti and Swiss; Bacon, Egg and Gouda; and Godiva dark or milk chocolate. The cafe also offers decadent cookies like iconic chocolate pieces from Godiva. The white raspberry oatmeal cookie and the dark chocolate lava cake cookie are also on the list. Godiva Mocha, as well as Godiva affogato, has also made it to the new menu.“This is a very pivotal time for Godiva as we transition to align with the ever-changing consumer behavior.
