Olympic Blvd #126, Beverly Hills, CA 90211, United StatesWhen: 14 April, 01.00 PM GMTTop lots of the sale:— Lot 0042: “Impressive 'Japonisme' Gilt Bronze Mounted Imari.” 19th Century comprising a large vase clock, the domed octagonal cover with gilt-bronze finial cast as a winged masked man, above the baluster body fitted with loop handles flanking a gilt dial with white enamelled chapters and Roman numerals, raised on a substantial base imitating a hardwood stand, with twin dragon-formed feet surmounted by men, a pierced apron, and turtle and elephant-formed feet, the movement striking a bell, 74cm high; together with a pair of six-light candelabra, en suite, the outscrolling arms raised on slender stems entwined with qilins, above covered vase bodies, raised on pierced bronze stands fitted with dragons, on turtle and elephant-formed feet, 75.5cm high (3). Surmounted by the buds and open flowers of carnations forming three candle sconces, 'tied' at the base with drapes, raised by two nude female nymphs covered with flower swags, on oval bases with olive branch border mounts and acanthus edges, on corresponding reeded toupie feet (2) 68cm and 66.5cm high. Estimate: 30,000 £ - 45,000 £ (39,295 USD – 58,942 USD)— Lot 0045: “French 'Japonisme' Gilt Bronze JardiniãˆRe Stand.” Modelled with a lingzhi banded rim with winged dragon and ring handles to the sides, supported on bamboo-form supports, raised on feet modelled as grotesque toads, variously stamped Marnyhac/ 215 and 1730 EB; the later Satsuma jardinière decorated with figures of warriors within a landscape 116cm high. Estimate: 24,000 £ - 36,000 £ (31,436 USD – 47,154 USD)—Lot 0049: “French 'Japonisme' Porcelain And Gilt Bronze.” Possibly To A Design By Henri Pannier, Late 19th Century the clock surmounted by a stylised peacock with wings spread resting on prunus blossom, above the rectangular case surmounted by pierced spandrels flanking the porcelain panels imitating cloisonné work, decorated to three sides with songbirds, prunus and fans, the front panel with dial with white chapters, faintly signed, above a square form base with corresponding pierced spandrels and plaque, raised on stylised elephant-form feet, with an eight-day movement, the case stamped 37443, 43.5cm high; together with a pair of five-light candelabra, en suite, with central sconces above four candle arms cast as entwined dragons, on vase-form bases with corresponding porcelain panels and square plinths, stamped 37444, 50.5cm high (3). Cast as a Japanese man and woman, the man with a hat, wearing a robe decorated with dragons and clouds and holding a fan in one hand, with swords tucked under the other arm, the woman in a floral kimono holding a parasol, with a closed fan in the other hand; both on square bases edged with Greek key borders, raised on elephant-form feet enclosing pierced aprons (2) 62cm and 61cm high. Estimate: 16,000 £ - 24,000 £ (20,957 USD - 31,436 USD)— Lot 0020: “Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Mounted and Marble Topped.” Late 19th Century. The shaped top above a bowed glazed single door enclosing two glass shelves and a mirror back, flanked by glazed side panels, all outlined in gilt bronze, raised on square cabriole legs ending in foliate sabots, the lockplate signed 'Paul Sormani/10 r. Charlot Paris' 63cm wide, 154cm high, 390cm deep.
