Louis Vuitton recently announced the launch of its three new cologne perfumes, ‘Sun Song’, ‘Cactus Garden’ and ‘Afternoon Swim.’The newest collection of the trio Parfums is all about the Californian coast as the destination and capture the spirit of Los Angeles’ eternally blessed summertime. The long stretches of beach etched in foam, the bright neon lights, the gentle iridescent sky, the patios burgeoning with cacti, the eternally beautiful days... There's something free, passionate and creative about the West Coast which inspired Louis Vuitton's new collection of Cologne Perfumes, as per the Louis Vuitton website.“To underscore the gaiety of these new fragrances, Louis Vuitton invited artist Alex Israel to bring his creative radiance to each of the Cologne Perfumes' packaging with a joyful design of pop colors that celebrates the idea of an endless summer. As a multimedia artist and filmmaker, Alex Israel is deeply inspired by his hometown of Los Angeles, a city of contrasts where the sky he loves to paint is undeniably unique. He imagined each perfume as a touchstone in his universe, pairing each fragrance with one of his emblematic artworks to capture the spirit of each scent,” says the website. Each scent is represented visually by Israel’s poetic collaboration with Bret Easton Ellis. Israel has imparted three different versions of compositions to the packaging design. He has also worked on pairing fragrance with emblematic artwork in order to allow the scent’s architecture to reflect. ‘Sun Song’ has been packaged as dressed in Summer and carries an oversized, yellow sunglass lens, inspired by the artist’s 2015 ‘Lens’ series. ‘Cactus Garden's packaging, on the other hand, has Desperado on it. It draws its inspiration from an installation by the artist that is a tribute to the rugged Californian landscape. ‘Afternoon Swim’ lives up to its name and has waves on its box called New Waves, a painting inspired by Israel’s 2018 Hong Kong exhibition. The packaging designs have also been inspired by films like Israel’s film SPF-18 and also The Endless Summer as well as Clueless. The artist believes that just like making a film which means creating a whole wide world for the audience, creating a fragrance also means presenting something new that should invoke feelings and memories. Every fragrance must evoke an uncanny, deja-vu and should make people travel in time or start thinking.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the fragrances https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
