DeKalb County, Indiana, length 4 in. x width 1.75 in. Formed of porphyry, a hard, granitic material; having a rare, bluish hue with large, cream phenocrysts “floating” on matrix; retains original polish. Estimate: 250,000 USD - 350,000 USD— Lot 0075: High Dog (Lakota, 19th/20th century): “Winter Count on.” Painted in green, yellow, red, blue, black, and brown; with pictographic depictions of historical events of the Sioux from 1798 through the early 20th century, 34 x 46.5 in. Early 20th century. Estimate: 40,000 USD - 60,000 USD—Lot 0032: “Delaware / Ottawa Black-Tanned Hide Bag and Wool Belt.” sinew-sewn; design of bag arranged into three segments; the upper portion composed of alternating quilled red and white bands, having an underlying row of tin cones filled with red-dyed deer hair; the middle segment of pronged elements are placed above four bands of alternating colored quillwork; and finally, the third incorporates a wide zigzag line, length 9.5 in. x width 9.5 in.; PLUS a finely woven red wool belt, length 36 in. x width 2.5 in. Late 19th century. Estimate: 30,000 USD - 50,000 USD—Lot 0219: “Navajo Second Phase Chief's Blanket / Rug.” Hand-spun wool of natural cream, indigo, lac-dyed bayetta and aniline; 12 nesting rectangles are situated along edges and through middle, 56.5 x 68.5 in. Late 1860s - early 1870s. Estimate: 30,000 USD - 50,000 USD—Lot 0021: “A Cache of Adena Blades, The Smith Cache.” Adena, Early Woodland Period, 1000 BC - AD 1. 97 whole and 59 partial blades, made from colorful and richly veined Flint Ridge flint, sizes range from 2-5/8 to 8.25 in.
