Tag Heuer in its Autavia collection has focused on creating a range of models that are versatile, rugged, and reliable, and are designed to appeal to adventurers.At Baselworld 2019 a slew of new watch models have been announced by leading manufacturers, and Tag Heuer has focused on its Autavia collection. With the Autavia collection the brand is showcasing how it is able to use the past to inspire its future. The reintroduced collection is a stand-alone offering inspired by the Autavia watches produced in the 1960s. According to the press release from the company the collection features cutting edge watchmaking technology and design such as “carbon-composite hairspring technology that distinguishes each piece as an Isograph”.TAG Heuer used the Autavia brand name which was formerly used for its dashboard instruments to label a chronograph wristwatch which was launched in 1962. After its launch the timepiece captured the energy and excitement of rally racing and enjoyed great popularity until its production ceased in 1985. The reintroduced Autavia collection has seven references that are aimed at the adventurous and daring. The company has also released a campaign for the Autavia collection that features actor Patrick Dempsey who is a long time brand ambassador.The stainless-steel Autavia 42 mm three hand models come with the rounded first-generation Autavia case and beveled lugs while powering each is a chronometer-certified Calibre 5. The models feature a bidirectional rotating bezel with a 60-minute scale which is made from black ceramic, blue ceramic or stainless steel and each is designed to enhance the sporty look of the watch. In addition to the five Autavia three-hand models, TAG Heuer has also created two versions in bronze.
