Surmounted by the buds and open flowers of carnations forming three candle sconces, 'tied' at the base with drapes, raised by two nude female nymphs covered with flower swags, on oval bases with olive branch border mounts and acanthus edges, on corresponding reeded toupie feet (2). 68cm and 66.5cm high. Estimate: 15,000 £ - 20,000 £ + fees (19,911 USD – 26,548 USD).— Lot 238: “Impressive 'Japonisme' Gilt Bronze Mounted Imari Porcelain Three-Piece Clock Garniture,” Attributed To “Compagnie Des Bronzes De Bruxelles,” 19th Century. Comprising a large vase clock, the domed octagonal cover with gilt-bronze finial cast as a winged masked man, above the baluster body fitted with loop handles flanking a gilt dial with white enameled chapters and Roman numerals, raised on a substantial base imitating a hardwood stand, with twin dragon-formed feet surmounted by men, a pierced apron, and turtle and elephant-formed feet, the movement striking a bell, 74cm high; together with a pair of six-light candelabra, en suite, the outscrolling arms raised on slender stems entwined with qilins, above covered vase bodies, raised on pierced bronze stands fitted with dragons, on turtle and elephant-formed feet, 75.5cm high (3). The stand modelled with a lingzhi banded rim with winged dragon and ring handles to the sides, supported on bamboo-form supports, raised on feet modelled as grotesque toads, variously stamped MARNYHAC/ 215 and 1730 EB; the later Satsuma jardiniere decorated with figures of warriors within a landscape. 116cm high. Estimate: 12,000 £ - 18,000 £ + fees (15,929 USD –23,893 USD).—Lot 246: “French 'Japonisme' Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Three Piece Clock Garniture,” Attributed To “L'escalier De Cristal,” Paris, possibly to a Design by “Henri Pannier,” Late 19th Century. The clock surmounted by a stylized peacock with wings spread resting on prunus blossom, above the rectangular case surmounted by pierced spandrels flanking the porcelain panels imitating cloisonne work, decorated to three sides with songbirds, prunus and fans, the front panel with dial with white chapters, faintly signed, above a square form base with corresponding pierced spandrels and plaque, raised on stylized elephant-form feet, with an eight-day movement, the case stamped 37443, 43.5cm high; together with a pair of five-light candelabra, en suite, with central sconces above four candle arms cast as entwined dragons, on vase-form bases with corresponding porcelain panels and square plinths, stamped 37444, 50.5cm high (3). With two tiers of barley-twist scrolled arms hung with prisms, drops and swags, and terminating with etched glass shades, wired for electricity. 80cm diameter, 140cm high. Depicting figures engaged in various activities in a garden within a repetitive border of gilt oval medallions, the reserves depicting spotted deer amongst pine trees with small flowering plants and Lingzhi fungus next to a flowering brook, signed Liu Wangwen, bearing a poetic inscription and date inscription for the twenty second year of the Kangxi reign with the artist's seal.; on a 17th century wood base.
