Of commanding scale, depicting either the historical Buddha Shakyamuni, or Akshobhya, Lord of the Eastern Pure Land. The Buddha with a gentle smile and lowered eyes, the urna an incised spiral, the curls on his head, and the scrolls on the borders of his robe individually chased. Measured at H: 12 in., 30.5 cm. Estimated Price: $15,000 - $25,000.— “The Costume of Painter - Whistler (2005)” by Bae Joon-Sung (b. 1967). Photograph with transparent vinyl overlay and oil on vinyl, signed verso and on the overlay. Measured at H: 88 1/4 in, 224 cm; W: 60 3/4 in., 154 cm. Estimated Price: $10,000 - $15,000.— “A Large Chinese painted, gessoed and gilt fresco panel” from the Ming Dynasty. Depicting a central female bodhisattva or celestial entity, wearing a phoenix crown and patterned silk robes, surrounded by a panoply of female attendants bearing various treasures, a phoenix above, all among scrolling clouds. Measured at Sight: H: 58 1/4 in., 148 cm; W: 38 1/4 in., 97 cm. Estimated Price: $10,000 - $15,000.— “A Chinese ‘Tianqi’ incised red lacquer small stand” from the Late Ming Dynasty, probably Wanli period. The rectangular top with flared ends, centered by a shaped cartouche, enclosing a pair of sinuous dragons contending a flaming pearl among ruyi-head form flames and clouds, the cartouche against a ‘cash’ diaper ground. Measured at H: 5 1/4in., 13.5 cm; L: 19 1/4, 49 cm; D: 11 1/8 in., 28.3 cm. Estimated Price: $10,000 - $15,000.— “A pair of Chinese hardwood spindle-back armchairs.” Of a dense, dark hardwood with attractive figure, with shaped crest rails and arms, and finely woven caned seats, back and arm supports of shaped circular section; the legs joined by box stretcher and a shaped skirt to foot-rail. Measured at approx. H: 34 1/2 in., 87.6 cm; W: 21 1/4 in., 54 cm; D: 42cm. Estimated Price: $8,000 - $12,000.— “Portrait of a Young Girl” from 20th century Southeast Asian School. Estimated Price: $8,000 - $12,000.— “An Ottoman silk and metallic thread-embroidered black-ground curtain” (circa 1813). Bearing the tughra of Sultan Mahmud II (r. 1808-1839), dated AH1228. With two arches supported by solomonic columns, enclosing various Arabic inscriptions on the black ground and applied moss-green, golden brown and red panels.
