(83.8 by 75 cm.). Estimate: 800,000 USD — 1,200,000 USD- A copper alloy figure of Adhikaranandi & consort. South India, Chola Period, 13th Century, the elegant image of Adhikaranandi standing in slight contrapposto with his primary hands in anjali mudra showing respect to his master Shiva, his secondary hands mirroring his Lord’s attributes the mrga or antelope. Height 24 in. (61 cm.). Estimate: 400,000 USD — 600,000 USD- A large black stone figure of Buddha. Eastern India, Bihar, Pre-Pala, 7th Century, or early Pala period (c. 750-1200). The Buddha with his left hand raised holding the hem of his diaphanous robe, the right lowered in varada mudra, standing on a rectangular plinth in slight abhanga against a gently curved and tapering backplate with ratna finials, a halo surrounding the head incised around the rim with Buddhist creed continuing down the right of the backplate, Maitreya kneeling below in adoration with hands in anjali mudra holding the stem of a lotus, and hair drawn up in jatamukuta. Height 42 1/2 in. (108 cm.). Estimate: 250,000 USD — 350,000 USD- A gilt copper figure of Indra with inset semi-precious stones and turquoise blue paste. Nepal, 14th Century, the god Indra, distinguished by the characteristic horizontal mark on the forehead indicating a third eye, wearing a diaphanous dhoti and a sash over the legs, with gem-set armbands, necklace and upavita, lotus-form earrings and the god’s distinctive crown inset with garnets and turquoise blue paste. Height 10 in. (25.4 cm.). Estimate: 200,000 USD — 300,000 USD- A Paubha depicting the worship of lord Jagannatha. Nepal, 18th Century, depicting a large, elaborate, walled temple complex centering a sanctum capped by a towering dome dedicated to the Lord Jagannatha accompanied by his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, surrounded by adorants and devotees, with numerous subsidiary shrines housing the pantheon of Brahminical deities, 72 7/8 by 62 1/2 in. (185 by 158.7 cm.). Estimate: 200,000 USD — 300,000 USD- A gilt copper alloy figure of Amitayus Tibet, 15th/16th Century.
