His hands are in the Dhyana mudra, the gesture of Meditation. The Buddha's face is serene, with a naturalistic and warm expression; his head is topped by a detailed ushnisha, in the Angkor style. The serpent is well rendered and symmetrical. Dimensions: 54cm / 22a€. Estimate: £ 11,000 - £ 16,000 ($14,386 – 20,925)- An antique Khmer Temple Guardian in the Angkor Wat style. Dimensions: 105cm / 42a€. Estimate: £ 7,750 - £ 12,000 ($10,135 – 15,694)- Ca. 12th-13th century stele depicting Ganesha. The somewhat naive image of Ganesha appears to illustrate an Angkor Wat style sculpture. The style of inscription indicates an Angkor or post-Angkor date, however the stele does not appear to be dated. The stele is inscribed with multiple lines of sanskrit text on its front and rear. The stele without the wood base measures 42cm x 16.5cm x 9cm (or 36cm tall excluding its locator). Loose mounted to a wood base (later). Dimensions: 46cm/18«. Estimate: £ 7,000 - £ 10,500 ($9,155 – 13,732)- A sophisticated rendering of the enthroned Buddha seated in the bhadrasana pose from Vietnam. The Buddha pose is similar to those popularised by the Mon territories of Thailand. The Buddha gazes forward, his eyes open downcast and reflective, the right hand in the vitarka mudra, one of teaching. His left hand rests palm up on his thigh and appears to hold the end of his robe, which is worn open, consistent with other early Buddhas from region. He is seated on a moulded platform throne without any trace of a back. HIs feet rest on a circular projection that was probably meant to be decorated as a lotus support. The enthroned Buddha is usually identified as Maitreya, the Messianic saviour of Mahayana Buddhism. Dimensions: 55cm / 22a€. Estimate: £ 7,000 - £ 10,000 ($9,155 – 13,078)- Ca. 17th-18th century stone Male torso - possibly Vishnu - in the Angkor Wat style. Typical of the Angkor Wat style the sculpture possessa€™ a gradeur, the shoulders are larger, the torso swells to a heavy and conventional shape evoking the aesthetic of the early tenth century. At the same time, the statue is not submitted to strict iconographic norms, the statue loses its stiffness and becomes more human. Dimensions: 75cm / 30a€. Estimate: £ 6,500 - £ 11,000 ($8,501 - 14,386)- Ca. 18th century Thai style meditation Buddha, seated on a simple three-tired throne, with the flaring head of a giant Naga, the serpent King Muchalinda, rising behind protectively behind. His hands are in the Dhyana mudra, the gesture of Medtiation. The Buddha's face is serene, with a naturalistic and warm expression; his ushnisha is topped by tightly wound hair curls. The serpent is very well rendered and symmetrical. This iconography is typical of the reign of Khmer King Jayavarman VII (ca. 1181 to 1218 CE). Dimensions: 76cm /30a€. Estimate: £ 6,250 - £ 10,000 ($8,174 - 13,078)- Ca. 11th-13th century stele depicting a Baphuon style Vishnu. The somewhat naive image of Vishnu appears to illustrate a Baphuon style sculpture. The stele is inscribed with multiple lines of sanskrit text on its front and rear. The stele does not appear to be dated.
