Though Republican Brian Kemp has already decided that Georgia’s gubernatorial race is over and has declared himself the winner, Democrats refuse to give up. This is because there are still thousands of provisional and absentee ballots which have not yet been counted. The hope is that there will be enough votes for Democrat Stacey Abrams to trigger a runoff election on Dec. 4—especially because so many eligible voters of color complained about issues at polling locations and were forced into casting provisional ballots. This was all part of Kemp’s plan from the beginning to steal this election from the people of Georgia. But, folks are fighting back. Right now, there is a massive statewide effort taking place to contact the tens of thousands of voters who cast provisional ballots on Election Day. Those voters have until Friday at 5 PM ET to have their ballot verified at their county elections office. More than 4,000 volunteers have been recruited in the last two days to contact provisional ballot holders. They are reaching out by text, phone, and door-knocking—with a focus on communities of color in the very areas that are most impacted by voter suppression efforts. Canvassers will specifically target Atlanta, Macon, Norcross, Tucker, Albany, and Augusta. The Democratic Party of Georgia is also trying to capture the stories of voters who encountered problems and/or didn’t have their votes counted on Election Day. xDid you vote in the #GAGov election on November 6, but your vote still hasn't been counted?
