Maison Gerard will be participating at the 2018 Salon Art + Design with a selection of works by some of the most sought after and forward thinking designers and artists.New York-based Maison Gerard, a store and gallery specializing in collectible French art deco furniture, lighting & objets d'art, will be participating at the 2018 Salon Art + Design showcasing selected works of some of the most sought after designers and artists.On view from November 8, the gallery will highlight works made with rarified and elevated materials in ways, what Maison Gerard states, “are both astonishing and surprising.” According to the Gallery website, “The common thread that links these innovators is the desire and ability to push the limits of the materials and to break from the ordinary.”This edition of Salon Art + Design will mark the auspicious debut of the Dublin-based contemporary artist and lighting sculptor, Niamh Barry, represented by Maison Gerard."We are delighted and honored that Niamh has chosen Maison Gerard to represent her as she charts a new journey with her sculptural lighting,” says F. Drut, owner.“For this new chapter and occasion, Barry has created a spectacular, site-specific, suspended light sculpture featuring never before employed elements in her work. Barry has pushed the language of line by hand carving and hammering the bronze to create a piece that flows in a seamless and undulating form that leaves one questioning how it is achieved,” states a press note by the Gallery.Italian born architect turned furniture designer, Achille Salvagni will present a new limited edition piece, tete-a-tete. He will also introduce a new special edition of the highly coveted Antinoo cabinet in a stunning black parchment finish with a black and white marble top.Irish-American designer, Carol Egan will display a stunning white leather and polished silver ottoman.Ireland’s talented duo, Zelouf and Bell will present gray lacquered bar cabinet.New lighting and furniture will be showcased from the Israeli artist, Ayala Serfaty.Also on view will be the distinctive handcrafted bronze furniture by Lebanese designer, Aline Hazarian.“In keeping with the heritage and tradition of Maison Gerard as a leading gallery in 20th century design, Drut will also showcase a curated selection of important Art Deco pieces including a fine and rare settee by Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann circa 1930, France,” the gallery adds.Since 1974, Maison Gerard has specialized in fine French Art Deco furniture, lighting and objets d’art, with a particular focus on the work of Maison Leleu.
