The Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden — Residenzschloss is hosting an exhibition titled “Disassembled and Uncovered” through November 14, 2016.The exhibition presents an array of 16th and 17th century drinking cups and goblets decorated by the goldsmiths of the age. Assuming the shape of any number of gods, animals and imaginary creatures, the vessels also exemplify the use of exotic materials such as the shell of the turban snail or the emperor nautilus and Indian mother-of-pearl furnished with elaborate silver mounts. These objects were popularly collected at the Saxon court in Dresden right up to the 18th century — they were eventually moved to the Grünes Gewölbe at the Residenzschloss (Royal Palace).“Disassembled and Uncovered” is on display at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden — Residenzschloss, Taschenberg 2, Dresden 01067, Germany. For details, visit: http://www.skd.museum/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peak of the exhibition Read more
