German photographer Juergen Teller, legendary for his edgy and uncouth fashion shoots and artistic portraits (remember Kim Kardashian crawling up a pile of dirt in a flesh-colored bodysuit in 2015?), recently made waves with a nude self-portrait on a donkey - in the middle of his new studio. The photograph was part of a series Teller shot documenting the construction of his new workplace, a three-part building created on a narrow piece of land in West London.Teller’s atelier was designed by Tom Emerson and Stephanie Macdonald‘s London practice 6a architects, RIBA decorated veterans in sophisticated gallery design, with projects such as the Raven Row, the fashion galleries at the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the South London Gallery under their belt. For Teller’s studio, they created a discrete and elegantly minimalistic concrete environment in a complex of altogether three buildings, housing offices, an archive, a top lit studio space, a kitchen, a library, and an ensemble of ancillary spaces. Three gardens, designed by Dan Pearson Studio, surround the structure as ‘exterior rooms’, aesthetically reminding of the local plants and shrubs that grow in derelict urban patches. To see more views of the new ensemble, click on the slideshow.
