Sou Fujimoto, Nicolas Laisné, and Dimitri Roussel’s “Village Vertical” project has won the “Inventons la Métropole du Grand Paris” competition. The 28,200-square-meter mixed-use project will be the new gateway to the city of Rosny-sous-Bois in Grand Paris. The architect trio is coming together for their third project in France, the earlier two projects being Ecole Polytechnic learning center at Paris-Saclay and a tree-inspired housing tower for Montpellier, noted ArchDaily.“Village Vertical” is part of the Grand Paris project, which aims to rejuvenate 112 sites in 75 municipalities. The ambitious project also includes the Grand Paris Express, the largest transport project in Europe, which when complete will underline Paris as an international megacity. The project also includes developments beyond the boundaries of Paris, one of them being BIG’s 800,000 square meters of cultural and recreational space “Europa City” in Triangle de Gonesse.“Village Vertical” features 17,000 square meters of housing, including 5,000 square meters of social housing. Community space with food court, family office, community center, rooftop bar and a daycare center will be located on the roof top and ground floor. The sports hub will feature urban soccer pitches, climbing walls, and a gym. The 120-meter timber frame with white columns and irregular balconies lend lightness to the imposing structure. The architects are joined by landscape and urban designers from Atelier Georges and urban developers from La Compagnie de Phalsbourg and REI Habitat. http://www.blouinartinfo.comFounder: Louise Blouin Read more
