The renowned architecture practice Snøhetta has designed a range of lighting for the first time. The Flik Flak collection comprising hinged wooden lamps was unveiled at the ongoing Stockholm Furniture Fair, part of Stockholm Design Week.Originally designed for Sweden’s Treehotel, the lamps are inspired by the building’s exterior and feature an LED strip that is sandwiched between black birch veneer. The lamps can be opened and closed at 180-degree angle as the planks are held together by a piano hinge. In its closed state, the lamplight is focused and when opened, it disperses across space, noted Dezeen.Designers Jenny Osuldsen and Stian Ekkernes Ross said: «The lamps are inspired by the Snøhetta's design for the 7th Room at the Treehotel in Herads. This is an area characterized by long winter months and light summer days, and we wanted to design a lamp that would be flexible and could adapt to this Northern context.»The Flik Flak collection will be on display at the fair from February 6 to February 10, 2018.
