Dansk Møbelkunst Gallery houses rare and original pieces of Danish furniture created from the 1920s to 1970s. The period was marked by new design experiments by architects, designers, and craftsmen who created utilitarian objects as works of art.Established in 1992, Dansk Møbelkunst is a Danish word for handcrafted furniture art characterized by its synthesis of utility, craftsmanship, and aesthetics. The gallery features a rare and exclusive collection of handcrafted and industrial design works created by the likes of Finn Juhl, Kaare Klint, and Ole Wanscher in the 1920s and 30s. There are also design works by the next generation of architects and designers trained by Klint — Poul Kjærholm, Hans J. Wegner, Børge Mogensen, and Arne Jacobsen. Dansk Møbelkunst also holds a unique collection of Poul Henningsen’s light fixtures including PH lamps and pendants, as well as a range of applied artworks. The gallery has hosted several exhibitions featuring the works of Hans J. Wegner, Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, and Danish cabinetmakers.
