They say, “The earth without art is, ‘EH!’”, and actually that’s true. Art lovers, especially people who appreciate the art of pottery, will be amazed to know that, an amazing exhibition on this subject is taking place at Mint Museum. The show mainly displays the assorted yet wide range of artwork on pottery influenced from the Asian countries which include Japan, Thailand, Korea, and China. Apart from that, ceramic works from North Carolina is also being featured.A good number of potters of North Carolina are trained by the Asian masters and travelled to learn and work with them, and have mastered the art of Asian pottery. But that’s just one part of the whole story. In return, Asian ceramic artists have also settled in North Carolina, practiced their skill and offered new perception to the world of pottery. The exchange of ideas and viewpoints among the artists across the world has changed the shape of the pottery art works and there is no doubt in this statement. It will be a good opportunity for the students of art, to view the various and wide range of styles from the displays. Many North Carolina potters use anagama kilns, which rely on several days of firing and a group of people working around the clock to glaze pots with ash. The interesting fact is that, this is a style and process from the South-East Asia, especially from Korea, Japan and China.“WARES OF THE WORLD: ASIAN INFLUENCE IN CONTEMPORARY NORTH CAROLINA CERAMICS” has started from July 29, 2017 and it is an ongoing exhibition at The Mint Museum, 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, USA.For details, visit: www.mintmuseum.orgClick on the slide show to have a sneak peek of the artist’s work.
