The exhibition “Here and now” featuring the works of designer David Huycke is currently on view at Caroline Van Hoek, Brussels. The show features pieces created by the silversmith spanning 15 years. The works on display highlight his artistic process and technical research. Huycke’s pieces are crafted out of solid silver and are hand-hammered or granulated. The artist has always been fascinated as to how and what things were constructed. For Huycke, material and making are of core interest, and he looks at them as a process in itself as well as a subject matter. When his attention turned to the technique of granulation he successfully turned this ornamental process into the very structure of the object.David Huycke (b.1967) is a designer and silversmith.
