The exhibition titled “L’étonnante modernité du décor” is currently on view at Galerie Anne-Sophie Duval, Paris.The show features rare scenics by artist Joseph Dufour. It also includes contemporary wallpaper "Carolle Lines’’ (2017) specially created by Mattia Bonetti for Carolle Thibault-Pomerantz and showcased for the first time in Paris. The exhibition highlights the French Modernist movement through works such as the long console designed by architect Adrienne Gorska (ca. 1930) and a pair of garden lounging chairs by François Turpin (1933). The combination of these two unusual art forms in a non-traditional setting sheds light on two areas of French Decorative Arts. “L’étonnante modernité du décor” includes guest exhibitor Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz and includes a selection of vintage wallpaper panels and scenics from the 18th to 20th centuries.Carolle Thibaut-Pomerantz has trained as art historian and deals in decorative arts specializing in excellent vintage wallpapers from the XVIII century to the 1950s. She is known for the rediscovery of the mural art from termed as “Papiers Peints” and is a specialist in the field. Thibaut-Pomerantz is a member of the Compagnie Nationale des Experts and the National Art and Antique Dealers Association of America.
