The Vienna Design Week 2017 will take place with more events, a new design district, and with a spotlight on Romanian design, at the end of September.Entering its eleventh year, with over 100 events all over the city, The Vienna Design Week 2017, Austria’s largest design festival, will introduce a new location from the Danube Canal to Schwarzenbergplatz, and from Praterstrasse to Mahlerstrasse. Under the spotlight will be the 15th District and Romania.The organization team is composed of Lilli Hollein as the director, Julia Hürner as the deputy director, Alexandra Toth, Gabriel Roland, Nadia Brandstätter, Annika Strassmair, and Julia Riesenberg. This year’s festival graphics by Christof Nardin/Bueronardin start out from the very origins of design — color, material and form.The festival fosters a new awareness of design and envisages it not only in its aesthetic function but especially as a profound and elemental component of everyday life. Like in the past, the festival will host exhibitions, workshops, participatory projects, talks, collaborations, and guided tours throughout Vienna. It will present national and international projects, positions, formation, and production processes, also experimental approaches in architecture, graphics, and design in all fields, including product, furniture, and social design.The Vienna Design Week 2017 will run from September 29 through October 8, 2017, noted Domus.
