The International furniture and interiors fair IMM Cologne 2019 opens today and runs through January 20, 2019.This year’s edition brings nearly 1,300 exhibitors, with more than 70 percent coming from outside Germany. The two-yearly LivingKitchen event is also being held parallel to the IMM Cologne. The fair’s full diversity of interior styles and product ranges are displayed in eleven halls. According to the press release, Prime presents the interior world of classic furniture for every area of the home, while Comfort covers the entire spectrum of upholstered seating. In the Sleep hall, visitors can study the functionality and aesthetic qualities of furniture designed for a good night’s rest. Global Lifestyles takes the visitors on a journey through internationally attractive markets. Intelligent solutions for young, trend-conscious interiors are showcased in the Smart section, and Pure Editions features trending design labels. “The simulated interior on show in the Das Haus installation provides a whole new perspective on what home can be like: every year, different designers create a miniature synthesis of the arts covering 180 square meters – and every year the result is entirely different,” states the press release. This year, the Rotterdam-based studio Truly Truly is presenting a flowing, organic interior “Living by Moods.”According to the organizers, some of the furniture trends to look out for include ultra-popular sideboards flanked by cool armchairs and light-footed sofas, books as display items, retro as a stylistic element, and modernist, mid-century, and pop culture classics popping up in new interpretations. The fair predicts the increasing popularity of a light palette of greys, accompanied by natural or pastel shades. But, according to the organizers, there are two other important directions that deserve a mention: the multicoloured look and a dark, elegant approach.Talking about the materials, wood is just as popular as ever, metal is preferred in warm, upmarket colors, and finishes like gold and brass. Classic velvet is making a comeback in home textiles. In Smart home section, the fair highlights how smart home technologies can be used to make life easier, for example by helping us eat more healthy food. Curated food is one of the themes of LivingKitchen.IMM Cologne takes place from January 14 through January 20, 2019, at Koelnmesse GmbH, Cologne, Germany. For more information, visit: http://www.imm-cologne.de/Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the event. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
