Auric Road, the lifestyle curators of petite resorts, debuted its much-anticipated SoCal property, Hotel Joaquin, last year. The hotel occupies a renovated 1930s motor lodge in Laguna Beach. Studio Robert McKinley has designed the “chic, playful, and layered decor” of the 22-room resort.McKinley and his team opened up the floor plan of the public spaces and refocused the entire property toward the ocean views. The exterior was refurbished and the outdoor spaces were re-landscaped.Interiors combine vintage furniture and low-slung, contemporary built-in units. Much of the furniture and materials were sourced and built by local artisans. Materials throughout are very clean and minimal, but organic and textured — featuring hand oiled white oak throughout, natural linen shades on lighting, and cane-lined closets. Bathrooms feature handmade Mexican clay tile and veined marble. The hotel ambience has been conceived as a low-tech environment, hence there are no in room TVs and record players in room. A host of Californian artists don the walls, including Daniel Fuller and Sean Spellman, according to Studio Robert McKinley.“This private beach oasis features small batch in-room amenities, sweeping views, a serene pool, and bespoke resort-style service. Sensory-focused details weave a soulful narrative throughout the property and elevate the mood of laid-back luxury,” states the press release. The designer sanctuary seamlessly connects adventure and respite with the tranquility of the beach carried throughout the property, according to the release. Guests can enjoy surfboarding, hiking, diving, and cycling along with other outdoor activities.“Hotel Joaquin is the latest property in Auric Road’s petite resort collection. Every detail has meaning and intentionality, designed to inspire our guests,” CEO Paul Makarechian says. “The resort’s location is especially nostalgic, as I grew up diving the coves along the Pacific Coast Highway. We are proud to unveil the magic of our new brand in Laguna and are excited to see how Hotel Joaquin captivates our guests as the Innkeepers for their soul’s journey.”The property is sustainability-focused and aims to eliminate plastic waste and connect with local charitable organizations to deliver hands-on community experiences for guests.Click on the slideshow for a sneak peek at the interiors. https://www.blouinartinfo.com/ Founder: Louise Blouin Read more
