Where to See Prague’s Best Autumn Colors Without Leaving the City
Autumn in Prague does not have to mean a crowded walk across Petřín or a stroll through Stromovka. Beyond the city’s best-known parks, forests, valleys and protected natural areas offer quieter routes where the changing season can be enjoyed without leaving Prague. Many of these places are also surprisingly easy to reach. A tram, bus or train can take you close to the starting point, making it possible to plan a two- or three-hour walk without a car or a full-day trip. Vinoř Park and the Satalice Pheasantry In northeastern Prague, a marked trail links Vinoř Park with the Satalice Pheasantry through a narrow wooded valley. The landscape is shaped by the Vinořský Stream, sandstone formations and small springs. Along the route, walkers can also come across traces of the area’s history, including rock carvings, the remains of an old hillfort and the entrance to a water cave. The area is especially attractive in autumn, when old oaks and other trees turn yellow and brown. A long avenue between Vinoř and Satalice adds another distinctive feature to the route.
