Man jumps from 12th floor of Ang Mo Kio HDB block, apprehended under Mental Health Act

A 57-year-old man was apprehended after he fell from the 12th floor of a HDB block in Ang Mo Kio on Sunday (Sept 20) evening.The incident happened at Block 645 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 at about 3.30pm. Residents in the area told AsiaOne that he was not behaving normally and appeared to be incoherent. An elderly resident, who lives at the adjacent block, told AsiaOne that he had attempted to enter her son's house on the 12th floor of the block."My son was not at home and only my grandson was in when he tried to enter their flat. So my son told him (grandson) to lock the door and wait for him," said the 65-year-old, who did not wish to be named.According to the resident, the man then allegedly sat on the ledge.Videos shared with AsiaOne by eyewitnesses show two safety life air packs deployed on the ground.Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers are seen working on the rooftop, above where the man is seated, and along the corridor of the 11th floor.
