Pedestrian, 74, dies after Yishun bike collision; teen cyclist arrested
A 16-year-old cyclist was arrested for his alleged involvement in an accident with an elderly pedestrian at Yishun who later died.In response to AsiaOne's queries, the authorities said that they received a call for assistance at Block 741 Yishun Avenue 5 on Sept 15 at around 11.45am.The 74-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) where he subsequently died, said the police.A teenage male cyclist was later arrested for the offence of rash act causing death, said the police, who added that investigations are ongoing.Tan Bo Xue, who identified himself as the pedestrian's son, made a Facebook post on Sept 16 appealing for witnesses.He said the accident took place near the Jollibee outlet at Caltex Yishun, near Yishun Ave 5 and Yishun Street 11, adding that his father sustained serious head injuries including internal bleeding in the brain and a skull fracture due to the accident.He also thanked the passerby who helped call an ambulance for his father.Tan's father died on Sept 17, according to the wake details he posted on Facebook.[[nid:745420
