Sept 18 weather update: Heavy rain expected over northern, eastern Singapore

Heavy rain is expected over the northern and eastern parts of Singapore on Friday (Sept 18) evening.In a weather update issued at 7.34pm, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said heavy rain over the two regions is expected from 7.45pm to 8.45pm.Separately, Singapore's national water agency PUB announced on its Telegram channel that there is a risk of flash floods at the Punggol Way slip road leading to the Tampines Expressway. Checks on Meteorological Service Singapore's (MSS) weather radar at 8pm show rain clouds over the eastern and north-eastern parts of Singapore.In its fortnightly weather forecast on Sept 16, the weatherman had said that localised short-duration thundery showers are expected between the late morning and afternoon over most parts of the island on most days.The agency added that widespread moderate to thundery showers, caused by regional wind convergence, are expected on one or two days during the forecast period.[[nid:745537 editor@asiaone.com
