Over 100 summonses issued, 3 motorcyclists arrested in 3-Day Traffic Police expressway enforcement operation

Against the backdrop of a "worrying" traffic situation — that has seen overall accident and casualty counts rise in the first half of the year — the Traffic Police (TP) conducted a three-day enforcement operation against errant motorists on Singapore's expressways.The operation, from Sept 14 to 16, resulted in 104 summonses issued for various traffic offences such as speeding and driving or stopping on the road shoulder of an expressway, TP said on Friday (Sept 18).Three motorcyclists were also arrested for driving without a valid driving licence and for using a vehicle without insurance coverage, the police added.They reiterated that road safety is a shared responsibility and motorists must abide by traffic laws and practice safe driving habits as they share the roads with other users.From January to June, Singapore recorded a total of 60 fatal road accidents, with 61 people killed.
