iPhone 18 launch draws long queues; some resell devices immediately after purchase

While Apple fans queued to get their hands on the latest iPhone 18 Pro models on Friday (Sept 18), some buyers were already looking to sell their newly purchased devices.At the Apple Store on Orchard Road, foreign nationals were seen approaching customers who had purchased the new ones, offering to buy the devices from them.Customers were allowed to purchase up to two iPhones each, but several of the buyers observed outside the store appeared to have bought much more.Some were seen carrying more than 15 Apple shopping bags believed to contain iPhones.One buyer offered $140 above the phone's market price.AsiaOne spoke to foreigners who were looking to buy the phones during the launch. They said they were willing to pay above Singapore's retail prices because the devices are more expensive in their countries due to taxes.They added that some of the phones were being bought for family and friends, while others were intended for resale.In one instance, a buyer reportedly purchased an iPhone from Courts Nojima nearby before immediately approaching those looking to buy it.
