Singaporean tourist hit by bus in Taiwan dies in hospital
A Singaporean woman who was run over by a bus in Taiwan succumbed to her injuries in hospital, reported Taiwan's national news agency on Friday (Sept 18).The Central News Agency cited a statement from China Medical University Hospital, which said they had made every possible effort to save the 67-year-old.She died on Friday morning from severe injuries, the medical institution said.She was reportedly been crossing a road in Taichung city on Wednesday morning when she was hit by a bus and became trapped under the vehicle's tyre.Local police said the woman went into cardiac arrest and was successfully resuscitated at China Medical University Hospital.She suffered a pelvic fracture and fractures to her right upper arm and left lower leg, according to police.Authorities said the 45-year-old bus driver, surnamed Gong, was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.The case will be investigated as a possible negligent homicide, reported Central News Agency.[[nid:745346 lim.kewei@asiaone.com
