'I thought you took it to play with it': Das DD returns restaurant buzzer after 2 months, banters with staff in Mandarin
Local entertainer and host Dharmadasa D Dharamahsena, better known as Das DD, has amused netizens after returning a restaurant buzzer he accidentally took home two months ago.The 36-year-old is known for his multilingual abilities, speaking English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. He previously told The Straits Times that he picked up Mandarin from friends in kindergarten and later took it as a second language in school.Das DD, who became the first Indian performer to win a Star Award in a performance-based category in 2023 for hosting Mediacorp's online programme #JustSwipeLah, also went viral in 2020 for parodying former prime minister Lee Hsien Loong's circuit breaker announcement, switching languages each time he took a sip from a cup.In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday (Sept 16), Das showed himself returning a buzzer he had inadvertently taken from what appeared to be an Old Chang Kee outlet about two months earlier."Aunty, I accidentally took this from you the last time I came," he told a staff member in fluent Mandarin. When the staff asked him when he had taken the buzzer, he sheepishly admitted that it was two months ago.
