Allegedly drunk Mercedes driver hits 2 pedestrians in Marina Bay area, tries to shake cop's hand
A Mercedes driver who was allegedly intoxicated struck two pedestrians walking along Raffles Avenue in the Marina Bay area on Wednesday (Sept 16) night.The accident occurred near Esplanade Mall at about 10pm, reported Shin Min Daily News.An eyewitness, surnamed Zhao, said a woman was knocked onto the ground and could not get back on her feet. Another man said he was suffering from chest pain and dizziness.The injured are tourists from China, according to the report.The car had also crashed into a bollard set up for the upcoming Formula One night race taking place at the Marina Bay Street Circuit from Oct 8 to 10.The police told AsiaOne that the 40-year-old woman and 41-year-old man were conscious when taken to the hospital.Driver arrestedWhen a Shin Min reporter reached the scene shortly after the accident, the male Mercedes driver, who was in a white button-up shirt, was being interviewed by police officers.
