Driver trapped after lorry crashes into guardrails, knocks down traffic light on Loyang Avenue
A lorry driver was trapped in his seat after the vehicle knocked over several guardrails and an overhead traffic light along Loyang Avenue on Wednesday (Sept 16).The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told AsiaOne it was alerted to the accident, which occurred near the Old Tampines Road exit leading to Loyang Avenue, at about 10.55am.Rescuers used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the driver. A total of two people were then taken to Changi General Hospital.Footage filmed by AsiaOne reader Eric Chin from the upper deck of a public bus shows part of the lorry mounted on the pedestrian sidewalk.Workers were seen holding up the frame of the fallen traffic light, while an EMAS recovery truck was also at the scene.
