Anthropic to set up fifth APAC office in Singapore, hiring for multiple roles
AI software developer Anthropic is setting up an office in Singapore in October, expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.In a press release on Wednesday (Sept 16), the tech giant, which created the AI chatbot Claude, said that the Singapore office will be the fifth in the region, following those in Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul, and Sydney.The decision to set up an office locally is "driven by strong enterprise demand for Claude", with Singapore already being a "standout market" for the AI-powered technology. The company is currently hiring for nine roles, ranging from sales to marketing and applied AI.Based on Anthropic’s most recent Economic Index published on June 26, Singapore ranks second out of 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to population.Usage of Claude is 5.81 times higher than would be expected based on Singapore's population, and opening an office in Singapore is a "natural next step", said managing director of international at Anthropic Chris Ciauri.
