How TRAFFITECH-GH will detect traffic offences, issue fines and penalise defaulters
The Ghana Police Service has published detailed guidelines on how its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, will operate ahead of its full implementation on October 1, 2026. The guidelines, issued by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) under the theme “Police Invisible Eyes Are Watching,” explain how traffic offences will be detected, how Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) will be issued, and what motorists must do after receiving a notice. The system will rely on cameras, sensors, and other digital devices to detect traffic violations, reducing reliance on the physical presence of police officers at every location.
