Six in 10 women say childbirth left them humiliated, powerless or mistreated
A survey of 845 women in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal estimates that 60% experienced some form of obstetric violence between 2015 and 2025, including verbal abuse, physical mistreatment and procedures without informed consent.
