'Kampung spirit': Woodlands residents spring into action to extinguish corridor fire
A fire broke out along a residential corridor in Woodlands on Monday (Sept 14) night, triggering a swift community response as neighbours extinguished the blaze before the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived.The SCDF told AsiaOne that they were alerted to the incident at Block 693B Woodlands Avenue 6, part of the Admiralty Grove HDB cluster, at around 9.35pm.The fire involved a shoe rack located along the common corridor on the eighth floor.Members of the public extinguished the fire using hosereels prior to SCDF's arrival.SCDF reported no injuries and said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
