SMEs to benefit from greater heavy vehicle parking flexibility under new service
Business owners in Singapore can enjoy greater flexibility in overnight parking arrangements for their heavy vehicles, when a new lodgement service kicks in on Tuesday (Sept 15), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Monday. Under the new service, owners of heavy goods vehicles will no longer need to secure a designated parking lot between 12am and 6am, before they can register a new vehicle, transfer ownership, or renew road tax.This lodgement only applies to heavy goods vehicle or concrete mixer whose maximum laden weight is more than 5,000kg, and any bus with a seating capacity of more than 15 persons, not including the driver.This service, LTA said, is part of an expansion to its existing Vehicle Parking Certificate (VPC) scheme, which was introduced in 1994.It was intended to ensure that heavy vehicles are parked responsibly to curb indiscriminate parking.
